investigation of growth indices and yield of two wheat) triticum aestivum l.( cultivars in competition with rye (secale cereale l.) and wild mustard (sinapis arvensis l.) weeds

abstract
this research was investigated to evaluate growth indices and competitive ability of two wheat ) triticum aestivum l. (cultivars in interference with two species of narrow and broad leaf weeds as two separated experiments based on a randomized complete block design with three replications at agricultural faculty of bu-ali sina university, during 2008-2009. in both experiments, alvand and sayson cultivars were planted at 450 plants.m-2. in the 1st experiment, rye (secale cereale l.) with densities of 0, 20, 40, 60 and 80 plants.m-2 were planted between wheat rows. in the 2nd experiment, wild mustard (sinapis arvesis l.) with densities of 0, 8, 16, 24 and 32 plants.m-2 were planted. results showed that increasing plant density in both weed species led to reduction of leaf area index, dry matter accumulation, crop growth rate, leaf area index duration, biomass duration, and yield of wheat cultivars. mentioned traits and grain yield of alvand showed less decrease in competition with both weed species. sayson plant height was decreased with increasing weed density but such observation was not found in alvand cultivar. individual plant damage of wild mustard on two wheat cultivars was more than that of rye. overall, alvand competability against both weed species was more than sayson.

Competition between Wild Mustard (Sinapis arvensis L.) and Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under Different rate of Nitrogen
To study the effects of applied nitrogen levels and wild mustard densities on the growth of wheat and wild mustard, a field experiment was conducted at Re-search and Experimental Field of Islamic Azad University of Ahvaz-Iran. The effects of three nitrogen levels namely 90, 150 and 210 kg.ha-1 and four wild mustard densities such as 0, 5, 10 and 15 plants.m-2 were evaluated in split plot arrang...
full textan evaluation of yield and yield components of bread wheat (triticum aestivum l.) cultivars when in competition with rye (secale cereale l.)
secale cereale is a nosious, problematic weed of wheat fields in iran. for evaluation of the yield and yield components of bread wheat (triticum aestivum l.) cultivars in the presence of rye an experiment was established in a randomized compelet block design with factorial arrangment of treatments in meshkindasht and varamin during 2002-2003 growin season. experimental factors were wheat cultiv...

full textcompetitive ability and tolerance of 18 wheat (triticum aestivum l.) cultivars to wild mustard (sinapis arvensis l.)
introduction: weeds causing 15 % or more damage to crops, annually. the amount of these damages depends upon different factors such as cultivar type and weeds species. wild mustard is a cosmopolitan and most serious broad leaf weed in wheat fields which has widespread through world including iran. rapid emergence of wild mustard under cold condition and fast growth early in the spring are reaso...
full textA systematic review of rye (Secale cereale L.) as a source of resistance to pathogens and pests in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)
Wheat is globally one of the most important crops. With the current human population growth rate, there is an increasing need to raise wheat productivity by means of plant breeding, along with development of more efficient and sustainable agricultural systems. Damage by pathogens and pests, in combination with adverse climate effects, need to be counteracted by incorporating new germplasm that ...
